Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has already dented his record, with a new statistic at the club since the 2022/23 season, in his first two matches.
Mngqithi is under pressure to maintain the winning streak that was the norm in previous years, particularly under former head coach Rulani Mokwena.
The 53-year-old mentor took a bold approach to create his own game model, instead of continuing with the same philosophy under Mokwena, which was more or less the same concepts the club have utilized since the appointment of former coach Pitso Mosimane in 2012.
The former Golden Arrows coach has already suggested and even from his schemes in his first two matches, that he prefers a direct approach, ideally in a 4-3-3 formation, using wing play, and capitalizes on counter-attacks and crosses into the box.

However, the Brazilians have been found wanting in the first two official matches under Mngqithi, after they scrapped past Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-finals, with a 1-0 win in extra-time, courtesy of an own goal by Thabang Matuludi.
Masandawana were arguably worse off in the semi-final first-leg against Stellenbosch, after they were out-played in most parts and narrowly lost 1-0 after a penalty scored by Fawaaz Basadien.
In the first two games already, it was the first time Sundowns have not scored a goal in two consecutive matches, in regulation time since the 2022/23 season.
The last time the Tshwane giants were unable to score in two straight 90 minutes was in April 2023, after two consecutive goalless draws in the Premiership against Cape Town City and Moroka Swallows, under Mokwena.

Prior to Sundowns playing against City, they had already wrapped up the league title with seven games to spare.
Before that, the last time Masandawana went two consecutive games without scoring was in April 2021, as they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the semi-finals on penalties, after a goalless draw in extra-time.
Sundowns then drew blanks again in the league against AmaZulu, while Mngqithi was the co-coach with Mokwena.
The Tshwane giants did not have any instance where they went two consecutive games without scoring in regulation time last season under the 37-year-old tactician.
