Khanye Expects More From Chiefs’ Ngcobo

Khanye Expects More From Chiefs’ Ngcobo

Junior Khanye is expecting an improved season from Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo under new coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team.

Ngcobo will be entering his eighth season as Chiefs' first team player, having been promoted from the club's juniors in 2017, and Khanye feels that the 24-year-old should rise as one of the top performers in the team.

In total, Ngcobo has made 91 appearances across all competitions since he started playing in the 2018/19 season. He has scored seven goals and assisted three times.

"I watched Nkosingiphile Ngcobo during the Toyota Cup match, and to me he looked like he is still the same player from the previous seasons in terms of his performance. From what I saw, it didn't look like much has changed about him. Yes, he is a promising player and I get that, but he is going to promise until when? The boy needs to show up and perform and I am hoping he will be able to do that this season under the new coach," said Khanye, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"There are a few other players who need to raise their game and show what they are capable of. (Pule) Mmodi and (Christian) Saile are some of those players. The club has done a very good job by appointing the new coach and his technical team, but it will take them time to get the team to play the way they want and get the desired results. Yes, the game against Yanga was just a friendly, and losing is part of football, but the way you lose as a team does leave much to be desired. Losing 4-0 was just too much, especially for a team where the expectations are very high," Khanye added.
