Kaizer Chiefs are understood to be leaning toward not renewing the playing contract of their veteran goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune though a final decision has not been made yet.
Despite this, Khune, at 37 years old, believes he still has the capability to continue playing at a high level for at least a season or two.

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, former Amakhosi legend Mokete Tsotetsi supported Khune's assessment of his own abilities. Tsotetsi emphasized the longevity typically associated with goalkeepers and their ability to improve with age and experience.
"Most goalkeepers play until they are above 40 years of age. Goalkeepers are different from on the field players as with age and experience they become better and better and that's why I think Itu (Khune) still has what it takes to be a good goalkeeper at a top level club like Chiefs. He could have chosen to go play for any club. He can still play for at least two seasons or even more," Tsotetsi told the Siya crew.
Tsotetsi also highlighted Khune's performance in the Carling All Stars team against Stellenbosch FC in January, noting that it demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure.

"He doesn't have anything to prove himself at all. He has done it all and won almost everything as a player. But every time he walks onto the field of play he shows the hunger that made him Mzansi's number one and that's why I think he still has it in him," Tsotetsi concluded.
Amakhosi are close to officially confirming Khune's new position at the club, and the Siya was informed what those options could be for the club legend.
While Chiefs are expected to prepare to officially confirm Khune's new role within the club in a non-playing capacity, the discussions around his playing career continue to evoke strong sentiments about his contributions to the team and South African football at large.
