It was not a happy return home for the Glamour Boys following their pre-season trip to Turkey.
Goals from Prince Dube, Clement Mzizi and a Stephane Aziz Ki brace subjected Nasreddine Nabi's charges to a comprehensive 4-0 defeat in the Toyota Cup on Sunday.
Although Yanga's Argentine tactician did acknowledge that the Soweto club used a lot of youngsters in the encounter, the 57-year-old also stated that they need to add more quality and experience to their squad if they are to be competitive domestically.
"You cannot become a big team overnight. In my opinion, the expectations [of Chiefs] are too high," the Olavarria native said, as per SABC Sport.
"I always say, in football you need players, even [Pep] Guardiola says his success in Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City is about the players
"In my case, particularly, I prefer starting slow and building, and then you come to the reality [of what can be achieved]. I think, from a tactical point of view, he [Nabi] gave a lesson on how it is to play an international game.
"It's not easy, but you need to have experience. I think Kaizer Chiefs put four or five young players, but you cannot expect to win at a high level with young, inexperienced players.
"I'm not criticising the level of Kaizer Chiefs, but for me, the biggest club is difficult to manage players and the expectations – you create big expectation, and then after you must perform on the pitch, there are no excuses.
"But I spoke with the coach [Nabi] and encouraged him, there's a lot of work to do, but I think if you want to compete in the domestic league against teams like Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City, you need to improve a lot.
