In the 2023/24 campaign, the German tactician made a historical impact on Moroccan football. In his first full season in charge of the Green Eagles, the 54-year-old managed to win the Throne Cup and Botola Pro Inwi title without suffering defeat.
This achievement garnered Zinnbauer a lot of attention from outside of Morocco, with Saudi Pro League side Al Wehda rumoured to be in pole position to prise the Schwandorf native away from Casablanca should he decide to leave.
The former Orlando Pirates manager has one year remaining on his current deal at the Stade Mohamed IV, and in a bid to convince him to sign a new contract, Boudrika travelled to Germany to hold talks with Zinnbauer and his agent.
Upon the Moroccan executive's arrival at Hamburg Airport, however, he was arrested by German authorities on what has been described as an "international search warrant on various charges".
According to El Watan, the meeting was originally scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates, but the location was subsequently changed at the last minute, and he is now being detained in Europe.

The exact reasons for the 41-year-old's arrest remains unclear, but according to Kooora, the club's board of directors are currently formulating a plan whereby they will not be affected by the possible absence of either Boudrika or Zinnbauer.
