The story
On Monday, Stellenbosch FC announced the signing of 27-year-old versatile attacker, Sanele Barns.
Barns joins Steve Barker's outfit on a long-term contract, on the back of an impressive domestic season in which he recorded six goals and seven assists in 35 appearances, and helped Richards Bay retain their top-flight status.
Stellar performances throughout the previous campaign also saw him nominated for the 2023/24 DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season award.
The baller expressed his delight over signing for the Western Cape side, praising the coach, his new teammates and showing appreciation for the new environment he's in.
"I'm hoping to achieve many things here. I think first up, we have a cup competition coming soon, the CAF Confederations Cup. So, my objective is to win all of this silverware," said Barns, showing Stellies fans a glimpse into his mentality as a player.
"They [the fans] can expect some very good footballer, a dedicated person, player and team player. Obviously, I will have to contribute massively to the team," added the goal-hungry winger.
