Amid rumours linking him with a move to Kaizer Chiefs and a reunion with former coach Nasreddine Nabi, Fiston Mayele is leading the Golden Boot race in the Egyptian Premier League (EPL).

The Democratic Republic of Congo international is currently enjoying a prolific debut campaign with Pyramids FC.
The 30-year-old signed for the Cairo-based side at the start of the 2023/24 season, and while his ability to find the back of the net may have been erratic during the league campaign's infancy, the hitman is now in a rich vein of form.
Mayele has now scored in four successive league matches, the latest of which came this past weekend in a dramatic 3-2 loss to Al Ahly at Cairo International Stadium.
His recent streak of sticking the ball into the back of the net has taken his tally in the top flight to 14 goals, two ahead of the next best scorer, El Mokawloon SC's Mohamed Salem.

Mayele's form comes at a time when the Congolese attacker is believed to be of interest to his former head coach Nabi.
The duo worked for two seasons together while at Tanzanian giants Young Africans, but ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, both decided to pursue challenges in north Africa, with Mayele joining Pyramids while the Tunisian tactician joined FAR Rabat.
Before their respective departures from Dar es Salaam to north Africa, though, they were both linked with moves to Naturena, but neither of them made the switch to the Soweto giants at the time.
After his lone season in Morocco, however, Nabi has left FAR and joined Chiefs.

It is suggested that the Monastir native wants Mayele to join him in Soweto, but a deal will likely be difficult to complete given that the striker is in good form and has a contract with the EPL table-toppers that runs until 2026.
