Rooney praised the Buccaneers for being a very good team, but was pleased with his side's ability to come back.
"It was a very difficult game. I think Orlando Pirates are a very good team," Rooney said, as per the club's X account.
"The heat. It was hard enough standing there watching the game, so for the lads, it was very hot evening and they've put a lot work in yesterday with a double session.
"It was important that they got the minutes but also get some rhythm of the game.
"I thought we grew into the game in the second half and could've gone on to win the game in the end, but overall really pleased with the players."
