Siya sources close to the player have indicated that Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United are two of the clubs interested in the 27-year-old with the intention of bringing him in for next season.
The sources have added how Khiba's performances have impressed the Gauteng clubs.
"For now I can tell you that there are two clubs from Gauteng monitoring Khiba. They have actually inquired about him. It's Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United," said the Siya source.
"Both teams are happy with what they have seen in the player so far. I believe that for Pirates it's not the first time as they inquired about him when he was still at Marumo Gallants before they were relegated from the DStv Premiership. But now SuperSport United have joined the race," the source added.
A second Siya source stated that Pirates may first look at which players they will release or keep for next season before making a decision on Khiba.
"Yes, Thato (Khiba) is on their (Pirates) radar for next season but they want to open up space at the team when they (potentially) bring him in so that they don't have too many players in the same department while for SuperSport United they are looking at strengthening the team as they anticipate to compete on all angles next season including in Africa if they qualify," the source added.
Khiba has featured in 11 TS Galaxy PSL league games this season, scoring on two occasions and providing two assists. He has also participated in five cup fixtures.
Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates and SuperSport United for a comment but no response was received by the time this story was published.
