Analysing Three Strikers Arsenal Could Sign

With reports suggesting that Arsenal will look to sign a big-money striker in the next transfer window, we analyse three forwards who could soon be on the move to the Emirates Stadium.

Alexander Isak

When speaking about Scandinavian sensations in the Premier League, one's first thought is likely going to be Erling Haaland, but there has been another Nordic attacker who has been lighting up the English top flight recently and his name is Alexander Isak. The Sweden international has been phenomenal since completing his move from Real Sociedad to Newcastle United in 2022. While he may have been a bit inconsistent during his time in LALIGA, the glimpses of quality was astounding, and at St. James' Park, he has shown exactly what he can do.

While he may be 1.92m tall, it's with the ball at his feet that he is most effective as he has shown he has the pace and dribbling ability to beat defenders in England's top division. He also seems have the know-how to exploit spaces in behind when playing against high lines and is also instinctive in the box. He currently has 15 goals in the Premier League for the Magpies, two away from equalling his best-ever league tally, and as he is still only 24 years old, there is a strong likelihood those numbers would increase playing alongside better-quality players and being coached by Mikel Arteta.

Viktor Gyokeres

If the Gunners do not fancy acquiring the services of a Swede who is already in the Premier League, there is an alternative who is having a phenomenal campaign in Portugal's Primeira Liga in Viktor Gyokeres. The Stockholm native has actually been on the books of an English side before, namely in Brighton Hove Albion, but having struggled to make an impact with the Seagulls, he joined Coventry City, where he made a name for himself. He would become Sporting CP's record signing at the beginning of this season after his stint with the Sky Blues, and he has only continued his upward trajectory under Ruben Amorim, scoring and providing assists for his teammates.

Like Isak, despite his imposing height, it his ability with the ball at his feet that seems to be his best quality. He can create goals solely off his ability to get past players, and while his countryman may be a bit more elegant in his play, Gyokeres is definitely more robust, energetic and powerful when running past opponents. He attracts a lot of attention and this allows him to provide a lot of assists to his teammates. This season so far, he has an impressive 36 goals and 15 assists in all competitions for Sporting.

Benjamin Sesko

Another striker the Gunners could snap is RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Unlike the aforementioned forwards, the Slovenian is still quite young and is not as polished in terms of finishing, but what he does possess is a tremendous upside. He is also good technically and is just as physically imposing.

Check Out: OPINION: Haaland Is Still One Of The Best

He is not as adept at dribbling past defenders when running with the ball, but give him the ball in a crowded box and he is likely to get a shot off because of his good close control. He is also very good at threading in through-balls. The Radece native only has 11 goals and two assists in all competitions so far this season, but at only 20 years old, there is plenty of room for growth.
