Man Utd 'Listen' To Euro Giants' Offer For Greenwood

Man Utd 'Listen' To Euro Giants' Offer For Greenwood

Manchester United's executives were reportedly seen meeting with chiefs from another European giant to discuss forward Mason Greenwood's future.

At the beginning of the season, it was agreed that the Englishman would be loaned out to Spanish outfit Getafe after the Red Devils released a statement saying it would be in the best interest of all involved for the Bradford native to restart his career away from Old Trafford.

At that point, Greenwood had been acquitted of charges relating to attempted rape, among other alleged offences. The Mancunians initially considered his return to their first-team squad, but following public backlash, the Premier League club made a prompt U-turn on that potential outcome.

Since making the move to Spain's top division, however, Greenwood has arguably been his team's best player as he wreaks havoc for Getafe week in and week out on their right flank.

The 22-year-old has eight goals and five assists to his name so far in this campaign, and has consequently started to attract interest from bigger clubs within the league.

Earlier this month, new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe stated that a fresh decision would be made regarding the versatile attacker, but after Jijantes FC released footage of Barcelona sporting director Deco meeting with the English side's football director John Murtough and negotiations director Matt Hargreaves, the assumption is that the record Premier League champions are leaning towards parting ways with the young star permanently.

Deco is also said to have met with Frank Trimboli and Federico Massai, representatives from CAA Base agency.

The Blaugrana have been rumoured to be interested in the forward for some time now, and with Raphinha seemingly struggling to make the desired impact at the Camp Nou, it looks as though the Catalan giants will be looking at trying to sign the England international for their right flank.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, says Barcelona are currently not looking at Greenwood as they are looking at "other targets".
