Jose Peseiro, who led Nigeria to the final of the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, has become one of the coaches to be added to the list of potential candidates for the Kaizer Chiefs coaching job.
With Amakhosi struggling for results after the team was also knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Milford FC, there have been calls from some sections of the supporters for changes to be made in the technical team.
Cavin Johnson, who has been in charge as interim coach since replacing Molefi Ntseki in October, is expected to return to his role as the Head of Youth Development Academy.
In 2018, Peseiro had been linked with the Soweto giants before the club decided on Giovanni Solinas to be the man in charge.
Peseiro, 63, was commended for how he made the Super Eagles play the way they did during the Afcon, including their penalty shootout victory against Bafana Bafana in the semi-finals.
The Portuguese is understood to be willing to coach in the PSL, where one of his star players from Afcon Stanley Nwabali is playing for Chippa United.
"Jose Peseiro is one of the coaches whose CVs are with Kaizer Chiefs, that I can confirm with you. If you ask me, yes, he has applied for the job through his representatives in South Africa and he is interested in the job," said a source.
Peseiro is currently unattached after he vacated his Nigeria post at the expiry of his contract at the end of Afcon.
