The experience that former Orlando Pirates attacker Patrick Malokase had as a professional footballer has given him an ability to know what players need in his current role as a chairperson at a university in the Free State.
Malokase works at Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein, overseeing both the men's and women's teams at the institution. The men's side competes in the ABC Motsepe League and this has been quite the experience for him, having to run football at the university.

The former Platinum Stars and Bloemfontein Celtic player is an Alumni of CUT and that played a big part in the institution trusting him to take their football to new heights. He has been in the position for two years and feels that they are heading in the right direction.
"I am at Central University of Technology, the institution team. I am currently running the club, as the chairperson of football in general, for both men and ladies teams. It's different, but I believe I have experience to do that. If you were a player and you understand what the players need in the field of play. It's quite easy to manage such a club. The institution itself is making things easy for me to manage the club because we are getting the right resources at the right times. Honestly we are able to run the team effectively. Yes, there are challenges, but we are doing well," Malokase, who started business management at CUT, said to the Siya crew.
Since his arrival, Malokase has helped CUT qualify for the Varsity Cup, something the institution had not done in quite a while.
"I was co-opted into the role about two years ago. The institution knew that I am around and I was a footballer and I am an Alumni of the institution. So, it was quite easy to say 'we want our own person to come and run the things in our institution'. Ever since I became the chairperson, things have changed in the right direction and I believe the institution has a clear picture of what we want to achieve."

"After a long time, we qualified to play in the Varsity Cup after four years of not qualifying. This year, both the men's and ladies team qualified for the Varsity Cup. We are moving quite well. I'm going for my C-license in the next month. Football is my life, I love it."
