Chiefs Monitoring TS Galaxy Forward?

Chiefs Monitoring TS Galaxy Forward?

Kaizer Chiefs had not bolstered their squad in the January transfer window, but the Siya crew has been informed of a forward they may be monitoring for next season.

Siya sources close to both clubs and privy to information have indicated that Amakhosi could be looking at TS Galaxy forward Lehlohonolo Mojela.

The sources have added that Chiefs were probably monitoring the former Casric Stars player for some time.

Amakhosi are believed to have inquired about the 27-year-old even at the end of last season but he had already agreed terms with Galaxy by then.

"It's unfortunate they could not get him last season when he was still at Casric Stars. They inquired about him even at that time after playing against Casric Stars in the Nedbank Cup. They started talking to the club but it didn't go far. They are serious about him," said the Siya source.

"Let's wait and see what Galaxy will say. He hasn't even spent a full season there but players move in football and anything is possible," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second Siya source added that the only problem now would be the increased value when compared to when he was still playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

"Getting him wouldn't be a problem but that means they have to pay much more than they could have paid last season. But the scouts are the same and they have apparently been following him and they are happy with what they saw last season at Casric and what they are seeing this season at Galaxy.

"It will now all depend on talks. Nothing else. But yes, Chiefs are monitoring Mojela," the source observed.

Mojela has been instrumental since joining Galaxy, and was important to their run all the way to the final of the Carling Knockout. He has also been a regular in the PSL where he has scored two goals and created one assist so far.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received by the time this story was published.
