No Retirement Plans Yet, Ex-Downs Player Excels In Business

No Retirement Plans Yet, Ex-Downs Player Excels In Business

From his days as a Kaizer Chiefs player, Tristan Moses knew how important it was to have multiple streams of income, which is why he started a marketing agency with a friend that he grew up with.

Currently a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in 2021, Moses understood that there is life beyond the four lines on the pitch. Having a business does not mean that the central defender has given up on football, but he had to make sure that he sets himself up properly for the future.

"I started 21 with a brother that I grew up with. We are a marketing agency and creative studio. We started this while I was at Kaizer Chiefs. We kind of found a loophole in the market where we realised that players needed to understand the value they have on and off the pitch. At the end of the day, the business is there as a hub for athletes," Moses said to the Siya crew.

"The business is providing athletes an opportunity to expand themselves. It's able to expand who they are and help them leverage the influence they have off the pitch. The business is trying to give power back to athletes, especially in South Africa. When I was at Chiefs, I knew that I wanted to establish other businesses and try to create as many sources of income as possible for myself. Yes, you have to be focused on football, but you have to understand that this is life and open up other doors for yourself. My business partner and I saw an opportunity and now we are five years in and the business is growing really well. We have people who work with us from all over the world. You need to establish things while you are playing."

As someone who is able to manage his time well, Moses gets to train on his own because he wants to make sure he is ready to join a team when an opportunity presents itself.

"Right now I am waiting for an opportunity to come to me. I've been patient. It hasn't been easy over the last year or so. I would love to get back into the game and start playing again. I am in the right space mentally and physically because I have been working hard in training. I am ready to compete. I know that I will be able to showcase my talent. It's just been a period of a lot of growth and development as a human being. At the end of the day, I want to play at the highest level. It's about getting the opportunity and grabbing it with both hands.

"You have to have a lot of discipline during this time to wake up everyday and train and keeping your fitness at a certain level. I miss being around the guys and just having that brotherhood and having a goal at the end of the week, which is to get three points. Those are the small things I miss since I've left Sundowns. You just have to be mentally strong and stay disciplined during these times. I know I am ready when an opportunity comes."
