The January transfer window has opened, and Chippa United are preparing to dip their toes into the market for an Orlando Pirates player, the Siya crew has been informed.
With Zuko Mdunyelwa's recent departure to Mamelodi Sundowns leaving a defensive gap in the team, Siya sources have indicated that the Chilli Boys may be eyeing a solution in the form of Orlando Pirates' Thabiso Sesane.

Soccer Laduma had previously investigated what could happen regarding Sesane's future. Now, the sources have added that Chippa have made inquiries about the young Buccaneer, as their gaze is fixed on filling the right-back void with Mdunyelwa having left.
"Chippa United have shown interest in the Pirates defender Thabiso (Sesane), and they have made inquires about him. You know they lost one of their dependable defenders to Sundowns and they don't want to start the second half of the season without signing a replacement. Yes, they are also talking to Sundowns about other players but it's not in that position and that's why they want to sign a right back to replace Zuko (Mdunyelwa)," the Siya source observed.
Talks with Sundowns for other positions could also be progressing, but it's a defensive anchor that The Chilli Boys crave most.
But Sesane's potential arrival isn't solely a Chippa wish list item. The Buccaneers, it seems, see a loan spell as a potential tonic for their 23-year-old defender. Having yet to taste official Bucs action this season, a temporary escape to greener pastures – in this case, chillier ones – could rekindle his playing fire. A second source discussed the possibility of a loan, noting how he had returned from a loan with All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.
"What could make the move ease is that Pirates want him to have more game time. They indicated earlier in the season that a loan move would be idle for him to have more game time and gain experience. Just like they did with Sandile Mthethwa last season. He also went to Chippa on loan and look how it turned out? He gained valuable experience and game time. So that would help Sesane as well," the source told Soccer Laduma.
Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but no response was received while preparing this story. Whether Sesane dons the Chilli Boys jersey or remains a Pirate in waiting remains to be seen.
