The 36-year-old achieved greatness in the Middle East last year when he helped inspire the Albiceleste to World Cup triumph.
Since Argentina's incredible feat, however, recent reports have suggested not all is well behind the scenes in the camp after head coach Lionel Scaloni admitted he is considering his future with the team.
The manager was believed to be agitated by Messi's decision to lead to his teammates off the field ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Brazil last month amid clashes between fans in the stands.
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner reportedly did not consult Scaloni before heading down the tunnel, leaving the tactician and his technical staff frustrated.
At the tournament last November and December, meanwhile, a panellist, speaking on on Tartu TV show A La Tarde, has claimed Messi was not too pleased with Alejandro "Papu" Gomez after he made a certain comment about his wife.
Discussing the apparent incident, the panellist said: "This man is a daring man. Locker room, I don't know exactly in which match, if it was in the match against the Netherlands.
"Everyone is happy because they passed, everyone in the locker room starts to sing. What does Alejandro El Papu say? 'Hand over Antonela!'
"Imagine Messi's laser eyes. Immediate red card!"
