5. Victor Osimhen (Napoli) – 29 goals
It has been a spectacular calendar year for the 24-year-old Nigeria international, who recently claimed his maiden CAF African Men's Player of the Year award in Morocco. The striker was massively influential as Napoli won the 2022/23 Serie A title, finishing the previous campaign as the league's top goalscorer as he became one of Europe's most sought-after forwards. Osimhen, a fan favourite in Naples, has reportedly agreed to an extension on his deal in Italy amid rumours top clubs in England are looking to snap him up at the end of this season, a contract renewal that will likely include a significant release clause. Osimhen has struck on 29 occasions across all club competitions so far this year, and will have three more matches in 2023 to add to his tally.
4. Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan) – 37 goals
While his form at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for Argentina might have been concerning for Inter Milan after he failed to score a single goal in Qatar, 26-year-old Martinez quickly rediscovered his knack for finding the back of the net in 2023. The Nerazzurri club captain has become a cult hero in Milan and is believed to be hoping to represent the legendary Italian giants for years to come, with it suggested he, too, is close to agreeing new terms. Once wanted by high-profile teams across Europe, Martinez, with his 37 goals this year, appears content in Italy and is thriving since taking on more responsibilities at the club for whom he has amassed 119 strikes in total.
3. Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) – 40 goals
No stranger to finishing among the top five, having done so every year since 2021, Mbappe continues to score with relative ease at Paris Saint-Germain. The 24-year-old has netted 40 times in all competitions for the French giants in 2023, although he will have only one more game – a Ligue 1 match against Metz on Wednesday – to add to his tally. While he has been relatively quiet since informing PSG he will not be extending his stay in Paris beyond this season, he has kept doing what he does best, and is expected to continue in that fashion until the campaign concludes! Mbappe remains heavily linked with Real Madrid, who could amazingly land his signature for free in July 2024.
2. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 42 goals
It has been another astonishing calendar year for the England captain, who has already scored 24 goals for Bayern Munich since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur earlier in 2023. With the ease at which he has settled in Germany, it almost feels as though Kane has been playing for the Bavarians for years, with his leadership and experience making Thomas Tuchel's side a strong contender for this season's UEFA Champions League title. The 30-year-old has so far amassed 42 goals, a tally he has impressively reached in just 47 matches. He, like Mbappe, has just one more game with which to add to his record in order to catch the man who currently leads the standing.

1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – 44 goals
With three, possibly four matches, remaining in 2023 for the Citizens, Haaland has a good chance to put distance between himself and his rivals over the coming two weeks. The 23-year-old Norway international has netted on 44 occasions this year, and might have had more if not for some of the niggling injuries that have kept him sidelined for short periods. Haaland, who narrowly missed out on the 2023 Ballon d'Or award to Lionel Messi, has never finished a calendar year as the leading club goalscorer across Europe's top five divisions, with his previous best coming in 2021 when he ended that particular year in second place with 43 goals.
