El Shahat also found the back of the net on the night, which sees him join a special group of players who have scored at four different Club World Cups.
The prestigious group includes Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, who hung his boots earlier this year.
El Shahat says Al Ahly gave Al Ittihad the respect but says they were prepared.
"I think you cannot underestimate Ittihad but we prepared well for them," El-Shahat told SSC Sports after the game.
"We showed them enough respect and managed to maintain our concentration levels from start to finish. Al Ahly always turn up in big games."
