Real Madrid have reportedly made a final decision on midfielder Luka Modric, who is said to be unhappy with his role this season.
The Croatians time in the Spanish capital looks to be coming to an end as he heads into the final six months of his contract.
Modric has often extended his stay by signing one-year contracts in the past, but the trend does not look like to be continuing this year.
According to Spanish publication Diario Sport, Los Balncos have decided against giving the veteran midfielder a contract extension when the season concludes.
As a result, the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner is now expected to end his 12-year association with the club in June and leave on a free transfer.
The report does add that Los Blancos want Modric to stay for the rest of the season, rather than leave in the January transfer window.
Modric's agent recently revealed that there was interest from other clubs, including the Saudi Pro League before the start of the season.
"Saudi clubs? This summer there was interest in Modric with the aim of signing him," Modric's agent, Borja Couce told Shoot.
"The player has several offers, from a club from the capital and another club.
"Modric is currently thinking about Real Madrid, but the idea of him moving to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable."
