Thapelo Maseko (Mamelodi Sundowns) – 2 goals
Continental football seems better suited for the 20-year-old sensation as he has now scored in both rounds of the African Football League. As a result of South African teams often sitting deep when playing against Masandawana, Maseko is not nearly as effective in the DStv Premiership. In African club football's newest competition, though, both Petro de Luanda and Ahly have shown a willingness to press the Premier Soccer League giants, availing more space in behind for the speedster to run into.
First, he did it in Angola late in the first leg of their quarter-final, then produced a wonder-strike against the Egyptian giants on Sunday. Maseko could therefore be key for the South African champions in the second leg in Cairo, with Ahly likely push forward to score the two goals that would turn the tie on its head.
Kahraba (Al Ahly) – 2 goals
Al Ahly failed not only to end their winless streak in South Africa on Sunday afternoon, but they also failed to find the back of the net. However, the record CAF Champions League winners will be backing themselves heavily in the return leg of their semi-final in Cairo, and it is in the Egyptian capital where they will be hoping striker Kahraba can add to the two goals he got against Simba. Manager Marcel Koller has lamented his side's inability to be clinical enough in front of goal at the showpiece so far, but right now the 29-cap Egypt international is their top goalscorer and he will likely be critical to Ahly's aspirations of overturning their first-leg deficit against Sundowns.
In the opening match of the competition, Kahraba pounced on Simba's goalkeeper fumbling the ball, before side-footing in an Ali Maaloul cross from the edge of the penalty area in the second leg. The 29-year-old is currently serving a suspension in the domestic league, but is still doing fine in front of goal in continental competition, with two strikes to his name in the CAF Champions League too.
Sadio Kanoute (Simba SC) – 2 goals
The Egyptian Premier League champions made it through to the semis via the away goals rule, with their Tanzanian counterparts Simba SC having put up a good fight, and that was courtesy of the goals of Mali international Sadio Kanoute.

The Red of Msimbazi were eliminated from the competition despite not losing either of their quarter-final clashes, and the 27-year-old midfielder was a major reason for that. First, his near-post header completed a temporary comeback for Simba in the first leg. After that, he scored another header, albeit fortuitously, in the second leg to put his team in front at the Cairo International Stadium, before Kahraba levelled matters.
