‘It Will Be Good If Chiefs Fans Get Punished’

A former Kaizer Chiefs player wants unruly fans to get punished for their actions after their latest incident directed at the now former coach, Molefi Ntseki.

Chiefs exited the Carling Knockout at the first attempt on the weekend after being defeated by AmaZulu at FNB Stadium.

The result led to a section of Amakhosi fans throwing objects onto the field and in the direction of Ntseki in an incident that could lead to the club getting another punishment from the PSL.

After finding themselves in similar situation a few times already this season, the Soweto giants pleaded with the supporters to behave at the stadium, but it seems like the fans want to see changes in the technical team.

Chiefs have confirmed that the club has since parted ways with Ntseki, with Cavin Johnson taking over as interim coach and assisted by Dillon Sheppard while Arthur Zwane has been moved back to development.

Former Chiefs midfielder, Humphrey Mlwane, questioned some of Ntseki's decisions during his tenure.

The Good

"There have been games where Chiefs played well and got the results. I would have expected the coach to do what he did in those games and for him to stick with the players he had chosen in those games. The most important thing in football is to be able to assemble a winning team and the sooner you do that the better. I expected (Edson) Castillo to start (against AmaZulu) even if he was coming from national duty. He (Ntseki) should have started with him and maybe plan to replace him in the second half if he was to get tired instead of starting him on the bench because to me that guy is a potential match winner for Chiefs. By starting the player on the bench, it looked to me that the coach had been experimenting. The players are fine and it's just the inconsistency that is worrying me about Chiefs," said Mlwane.

The Bad

"My main issue with Chiefs is too many changes that were being made by the coach in his line-ups and that too me has been the cause for inconsistency with regards to getting the desired results. Sometimes, the players too aren't doing enough to win matches. I am not sure if the coach has been trying to rotate the squad or what but the changes that he has been making in the line-ups were just too many. Whatever he was trying to do, it was not working. He should have decided on the players he trusted and stuck with them. If he had his trusted 11 from the word go and stuck with it, they would be used to playing with each other by now and they would be getting the results. Other players would be introduced gradually and not the wholesale changes that we have been seeing. That's what I would do if I was in his situation," he said.

The Ugly

"As for the fans, it will be good if they get to be punished by not being allowed to go to the stadium to watch their favourite team because of their unruly behaviour. I won't have a problem with that because no matter how many games the coach can lose, behaving like that can never be a solution. I came across an article where fans said it's their money anyway that is being used to pay these fines from the league and that was quite funny. Truly speaking, what the fans are doing to the coach and the club is out of order and should be condemned in the strongest possible way. At the end of the day, the coach is a human being and he's got feelings too like all of us and doesn't deserve to be treated like that. I don't think he went to games with the intention of losing. I am appealing to the media and everyone to spread the word to the fans to stop what they have been doing," concluded Mlwane.
