With Lyle Foster having enjoyed a tremendous start to life in the Premier League, we thought we'd take a look at some other African stars who have had good starts to the new season!

Lyle Foster
There were perhaps many question marks concerning Burnley's frontline when they returned to the English top flight under Vincent Komany, with Foster having only scored one goal in the EFL Championship since arriving at Turf Moor in January. However, the Johannesburg native has put those doubts to bed rather quickly given his early showing in England's top division. Apart from the Clarets' opening-day loss to Manchester City, the Bafana Bafana talisman has been involved in a goal in every league game he has played. Should he continue this vein of form, there is little doubt bigger clubs within the division will be hovering for the former Orlando Pirates man.
Simon Adingra
Another forward who has made an immediate impact in the Premier League is Ivory Coast's Simon Adingra. Like Foster, Adingra spent last season plying his trade in the Belgian Pro League, playing for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. The Right to Dream alumni has now returned to Brighton Hove Albion and is enjoying a prominent role within Roberto De Zerbi's system. The 21-year-old has started three of the past four matches in the league for the Seagulls, assisting a strike against Manchester United and scoring against Liverpool during that time. Adingra proved a menace for the Reds defence, form his national team will be hoping he can replicate going into the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
Victor Boniface
Another alumni of the Jupiler Pro League is Nigerian marksman Victor Boniface. The 22-year-old attacker showed glimpses of his quality while in Belgium last season with Adingra at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, scoring 17 goals and getting 12 assists across all competitions. The young star has only continued his ascendance since, having exploded in the Bundesliga this season. Boniface has already scored seven times in seven matches in his debut campaign in the German top flight. His performances have even led him to being called up to the national team, a side that is full of quality up front, with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, Umar Sadiq and Terem Moffi all competing for starting positions.
Serhou Guirassy
If Boniface has been prolific in the Bundesliga, Serhou Guirassy has been other-worldly in his return to the league. The Guinea international first played in the German top flight with FC Koln, but after an ill-fated spell there, would leave for Ligue 1's Amiens. A good spell in his nation of birth culminated in a return to Germany, this time with Stuttgart. 2023/24 is already the most prolific league campaign of his career, and we are only seven games in! The attacker has 13 goals to his name and has helped his side, which was in the relegation playoffs last season, to be in contention for a European place this time around.

Karim Konate
While Guirassy may be a bit older than everybody else on this list, the youngest on it is Karim Konate. The 19-year-old has enjoyed a good start to the new season with RB Salzburg, having already scored seven goals and provided six assists in all competitions so far. A plethora of African greats made their first in-roads into top-level European football at the Austrian side, and the eight-cap Ivory Coast international now looks to be the latest to follow in the footsteps of Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Enock Mwepu.
