Chiefs To Sign A New Left Back?

Chiefs To Sign A New Left Back?

Kaizer Chiefs had already signed two new defenders in the last transfer window, but the Siya crew understands they may not be done with strengthening their backline.

Amakhosi had brought in Given Msimango from TS Galaxy and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United who are both proving their value to the team already.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that Amakhosi may be monitoring Stellenbosch FC left back Fawaaz Basadien.

The source added that left back is a position they need to strengthen and that the former Moroka Swallows defender is a favoured option.

"You know they wanted to bring in a Tanzanian left back (Mohamed Hussein) to beef up their left back position but that didn't work hence they have Sifiso Hlanti in for another year," said the Siya source, referring to a link to Hussein that Soccer Laduma had previously reported on.

"But now they want to bring in Basadien to strengthen that position. They are building for the future and they are determined to bring in a player who can fill that position and they are convinced that the Stellenbosch FC defender is the right choice," the source observed.

Meanwhile another Siya source added that the club's scouts are working on the potential Basadien transfer.

"If all goes well they want to bring him in January. You heard that the Sporting Director (Kaizer Motaung Jr) said that they are not done with signings yet and he (Basadien) is one of the players that they have been monitoring," said the other Siya source.

"But it will all depends on Stellenbosch. I don't think they would want to lose two of their best players to Chiefs in a short period of time. So it's a tricky situation but they really want him," the source told Soccer Laduma.

Amakhosi recently signed midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa from Stellies. The Siya crew contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while preparing this story.
