Manchester City are reportedly working behind the scenes to remove a specific clause from Erling Haaland's contract at the club.

Since swapping Borussia Dortmund for the Citizens in 2022, Haaland has scored an incredible 60 goals in 65 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League champions.
His exploits helped inspire Pep Guardiola's side to a memorable treble earlier this year, but questions over how long the 23-year-old will be at City remain following previous comments from his father and agent.
His dad, ex-City midfielder Alf-Inge, admitted last year that his son wants to try his hand in "all leagues", with the left-footed forward having been strongly linked with Real Madrid in the past, a club his representative, Rafaela Pimenta, has described as "dreamland" for players.
Upon the forward's arrival in England last year, reports suggested that his deal at City includes a release clause of €200 million (R4 billion) that will come into play before the halfway mark of his stay at the club (2024), according to The Athletic.
It was later reported by Marca that it had been negotiated that the buyout clause would only become active in 2025, with Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport now claiming City are aiming to remove it entirely.

This is to stop Los Blancos and Barcelona from pursuing Haaland in future transfer windows, although it remains to be seen whether or not the player's ambitions have changed since becoming a key member of City's team.
