South Africa now has three representatives in the United Arab Emirates following Pienaar's move to UAE Pro League side Sharjah FC.
The 41-year-old has taken up a coaching role in the club's youth structures, joining Pitso Mosimane [Al Wahda] and Thulani Serero [Khorfakkan] in the oil-rich nation.
Pienaar's move comes after his exit from his childhood club Ajax Amsterdam where he returned as a coach in 2019, first as a trainee coach and later as the club's u18 assistant coach.
There was no official announcement of Pienaar's exit from the Dutch giants and neither has there been an official announcement of his arrival at Sharjah; however, Siya sources have confirmed that the former Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Tottenham man has taken up a role at the club.
In June last year, Pienaar became one of a handful of South Africans to obtain his UEFA Pro License – the highest coaching qualification in world football.
