It was Stellies who broke the news on Wednesday that 'Ox' as Mthethwa is affectionately known, would be joining Amakhosi; however, the club has now officially announced his arrival at Naturena.
"We warmly welcome Sibongiseni Mthethwa to the team. We know he's a good player with great experience under his belt. We believe that he will hit the ground running and contribute straight away, knowing fully well what is expected of every player that dons the Gold Black jersey of Amakhosi. We look forward to many great performances in the next coming seasons. We would like, once again, to thank Stellenbosch for their professionalism during our negotiations, and we look forward to the continuation of our working well together," the club's Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. said.
Chiefs also confirmed that the former Black Leopards man has put pen to paper on a three-year deal that runs to 2026.
He is expected to join his new teammates for training on 25 September and will not feature for Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-final, due to being cup-tied, having featured for Stellies in the same competition.
