Word reaching the Siya crew is that there have been some concerns raised at Richards Bay FC over the start the side has endured to the season, a situation that will put a lot of pressure on head coach Kaitano Tembo.
The Zimbabwean-born mentor was appointed to the role before the start of the current campaign, but the Natal Rich Boyz have struggled to get out of first gear and, while management have not pressed any panic buttons just yet, indications are that they will not be patient for too long, with the ambition being to see the club progressing.
In the first five matches of 2023/24, the KZN-based outfit has not managed to register a victory, with just two draws and three losses. They have scored a paltry two goals and conceded six times.
More worrisome for Tembo is that he's not new to facing early-season pressure. Last season, while in charge of Sekhukhune United, his side got off to a slow start, with club management deciding to pull the trigger not long into his tenure. Knowing that clubs in the PSL don't always exercise patience, the 53-year-old will be working on a turnaround plan to ensure positive results start coming.
Richards Bay, it's understood, will consider making changes to the technical team if the status quo remains in the coming weeks, with Soccer Laduma reporting in edition 1339 that the name of Luc Eymael is being bandied about in the club's corridors.
The Siya crew, meanwhile, was recently informed that Tembo was interested in signing former SuperSport United's Siyabonga Nhlapo but could not get approval from management to secure the 34-year-old. The defender remains a free agent.
