It was a mystery why Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos did not include St. Louis City midfielder Njabulo Blom in his 23-man squad and the reason could have been revealed.
Broos initially included Blom in his preliminary squad but did not select him for his final 23-man squad to face Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Belgian, when asked why Blom missed out, said that the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder was in and out of his MLS team and missed a lot of games, something that the 23-year old refuted in an interview on Metro FM Sports last week.
Blom got his first call up since moving to St. Louis City in the final Africa Cup of Nations group qualifier match against Morocco in June and he was an unused substitute at FNB Stadium, despite the fact that Bafana had already qualified.Sign In
The former Amakhosi midfielder says he was "frustrated" not getting any minutes against the Atlas Lions after travelling all the way from the USA but on the brighter side, he used the opportunity to catch up with his family.
"It was my first home trip (since joining St. Louis City), I think I was a bit frustrated that I didn't play (against Morocco) but also happy to be back home, to see my family," Blom said in an interview with SuperSport.
"So I think also mentally it played a huge role for me, it helped me a lot to come back fresh, relaxed, knowing that my family is okay back home.
"I feel like I'm in a much better space now than I was before," he added.
Broos has built a reputation of not compromising the spirit within the Bafana camp.
