Pep Explains Crazy Argument With Man City Supporter

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola explains why he lashed out at a supporter during the team's win over Newcastle United on Saturday night.

The Citizens maintained their winning start to the Premier League season with a 1-0 win over the Magpies at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite the close victory, Guardiola decided against making a single substitution on the night, which certainly ruffled some supporters.

During the second half with City leading 1-0, Guardiola appeared to tell one fan that he was welcome to his job after being told to make a substitute.

"He said to me: 'Make a substitution!' and I said: 'Come. Sit here and do it!' I understand, and I felt a lot for Cole [Palmer], for Rico [Lewis], for Kalvin [Phillips] but the game was in a good tempo, a good rhythm and I didn't see the players were tired," Guardiola told TNT Sports.

"It wasn't easy to do the changes so that's why I didn't do it."

The Spanish tactician went on to explain why he decided against making substitutions against Newcastle.

"I thought Rico [Lewis], Kalvin [Phillips] and Cole [Palmer] to maybe be a part of that, but I saw the team in that moment were alive. In that game to come in sometimes the rhythm was difficult. I know they were tired but tired but they were still there and fighting every ball," he added.

"The managers have the option to make the substitutions but the manager decides whether to apply or not. I thought less substitutions would be less extra time so that's why."
