The Nigerian marksman is now universally recognised as one of the best forwards in world football following his exploits in the 2022/23 campaign.
The Lagos native scored 31 goals in all competitions for Gli Azzurri as he helped Naples-based outfit capture their first league title in 33 years.
Osimhen also became the first African player in the history of the Serie A to finish a season as the league's top goalscorer. Consequently, his exploits have attracted interest from Europe's biggest teams, but Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis, a man known for being a notoriously tough negotiator, does not expect his talisman to leave the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at this point.
The Super Eagle has two years remaining on his current deal with the Italian champions, but, the 74-year-old Italian executive did admit that he thinks only one team can match their £170 million (R4 billion) asking price.
"The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain," De Laurentiis told Mediaset.
"If Nasser Al Khelaifi [PSG president] wants to send in a bid around £170m, we wait and we see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here."
