Talk of a crunch meeting between players and management of Royal AM is believed to have taken place on Friday following a strike by the players over unpaid signing on fees.
The said meeting was to resolve the matter and allay players' concerns over their monies.
But the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that the meeting took a dramatic twist as the club alerted nine players that they would no longer be needing their services, although the players would still receive their compensation.
One player, who spoke to the Siya crew on condition of anonymity, confirmed that he, along with eight of his teammates, were told that they are no longer a part of the team, with just one match to go before the conclusion of the DStv Premiership.
A second Siya source confirmed the news, although the names of the released players have been withheld at this stage. Indications are that the the signs were clear when coach John Maduka fielded a much-changed starting XI in their match against Swallows FC on Saturday.
Attempts by the Siya crew to reach out to Royal AM general manager Richard Makhoba proved fruitless at the time of publishing, and the Siya crew will keep you up to date with the latest developments in KwaZulu-Natal.
