Crowie's charges did manage to carve out a chance ten minutes before the halftime, but striker Michael Dokunmu was unable to steer his header on target at the far post.
Senegal got the breakthrough a couple minutes later as South African defender Waylon Renecke diverted the ball into his own net while trying to make a clearance in the box.
There was enough time for the Senegalese to get a second goal on 39 minutes and it was another own goal, with Benjamin Wallis unable to clear a rebound before poking into the back of his own net.
The third goal arrived a minute before the halftime break, Amara Diouf found the back of the net with a close-range from Omar Sall's cross, with the goal awarded by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) it was initially ruled out for offside.
South Africa were put out of their misery in the 72nd minute when Diouf bagged his second and Senegal's fifth goal on the day after nodding home a cross from Ibrahima Diallo.
