Chiefs confirmed the blow to Dolly with the 30-year-old having suffered what is understood to be a posterior cruciate ligament injury.
The blow comes at a crucial time for Chiefs who are chasing Nedbank Cup glory and a second place finish in the Premiership.
However, Amakhosi's misery could be compounded as they sweat over the fitness of another key player.
Eyebrows were raised as Chiefs named a starting XI against Chippa United with Edmilson Dove the biggest absentee from the line-up.
The Siya crew has been reliably informed that the Mozambican suffered an ankle injury believed to be serious although it remains to be seen whether he is ruled out for the season.
Dove has been one of Chiefs' standout players this season, having made the left-centre back slot his own alongside Siyabonga Ngezana. He has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Chiefs this season.
Njabulo Ngcobo was slotted in as his replacement against the Chilli Boys.
