My Financial Recon: Cheslyn Jampies

My Financial Recon: Cheslyn Jampies

Former Santos, Jomo Cosmos Bloemfontein Celtic and Bafana Bafana defender Cheslyn Jampies shares his financial recon with the Siya crew. Among the things he spent money on was a R32 000 pair of shoes which saw his family not speak to him for over a month!

My first pay cheque sign on fee:

My first pay cheque was at Santos. Unfortunately, there was no sign on fee and my salary at the time was R3 000.

My sponsor deals requests:

I only had a short sponsorship deal when I arrived in Jozi to play for Jomo Cosmos. That was the same year I represented Bafana Bafana in our AFCON qualifiers under Coach Shakes Mashaba. Puma was on board as a sponsor for me through my father coach Jomo Sono.

My biggest bonus:

My biggest bonus must be at Bloemfontein Celtic where each player got R40 000 for a game we had to win. I don't remember correctly who we played at the time.

Was I ever duped with money/ a deal:

I wouldn't say I was duped but I was fined by Santos many years ago for saying what I felt was right at that moment which today I know how to say certain things better and not as blunt as always, haha. That cost me R15 000.

My most expensive car:

The two most expensive cars I've had is my Ford Focus ST worth R230 000, and my SUV Infinity qx70 that cost me about R650 000.

My clothing:

I normally like dressing in things that's comfortable, although I did spoil myself with takkies worth R32 000 (Christian Louboutin), I remember my family never spoke to me for over a month because of that.

My expensive date:

I took my whole family for supper a few years ago as tradition in our family. Normally we do this once a year and that cost about R8 000.

My biggest bar bill:

My biggest bar bill must be at the Cubana in Bloemfontein. It was on my crown birthday, and we just got a signing on fee. If I remember correctly, it must have been over R40 000.
