CAF president Patrice Motsepe has thrown his weight behind an African nation to host the FIFA World Cup in 2030.

The head of African football's governing body has got behind Morocco to help organise what will be the 24th edition of the global showpiece.
The north African nation confirmed their intent to host football's biggest spectacle during the 73rd FIFA congress in Kigali, revealing that they, alongside the Iberian nations of Spain and Portugal, are set to compile a joint bid to co-host the tournament.
"The unanimous decision that was taken by the CAF Executive Committee to support Morocco's bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2030 means that the bid of Morocco is now the bid of the African continent," Motsepe said, as per CAF's official website.
"We are now focusing on ensuring that Africa once more hosts the FIFA World Cup and are committed to working together with all Football National Associations and Confederations to make this happen."
The Atlas Lions made history at the most recent iteration of the World Cup when they became the first African nation to go as far as the competition's semi-finals, and Morocco will be hoping to show their readiness to co-host the largest sporting event on the planet should they win the right to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

They have not held Africa's most prestigious competition since 1988, but reports suggest that they are likely to host the AFCON in two years' time.
Surprisingly, the Moroccans have only won the competition once, back in 1976.
