Liberia Coach Sends Message To Bafana

Liberia Coach Sends Message To Bafana

Liberia head coach Ansumana Keita has explained why they are "hungry" to make make Bafana Bafana "suffer" in their penultimate Africa Cup of Nations qualifier clash in Monrovia.

The Lone Stars came back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw against Bafana in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last Friday.

The result left the sides with a point each in Group K after they both lost their opening games to Morocco, with only three teams in the section after Zimbabwe were disqualified.

Moreover, they will go head to head for the remaining spot to qualify for the Afcon finals in Ivory Coast next year, as a draw at Orlando Stadium saw the Atlas Lions qualify with two games to spare.

Keita says they have not played in Liberia for a couple of years and the fans are hungry for action in Monrovia and their draw against Bafana last Friday will motivate them even further.

"Two, to three years now we have not played at home in Liberia, so Liberians are very hungry. The result of (Friday) will motivate them," Keita said at a press conference.

"Trust me before 8 am or 9 am in the morning the stadium is going to be packed already. Trust me the Liberians will be there to support their team.

"Bafana Bafana this is a message for you; we came here to compete and there (in Liberia) we will compete, trust me it's not going to be easy for them, we'll play them," he said.

Keita, however, does not believe playing in an artificial pitch will give them an advantage but he's confident on their "strategy" to make Hugo Broos' charges "suffer".

"The pitch is artificial, I don't believe that (we'll have an advantage), even our players they don't play in artificial (pitch) in Europe. So it's advantage for both teams," he went on.

"But what I'm telling you is the tactical strategy that we'll use to make South Africa to suffer. We want to win, we're not going to choke, we gonna play, no matter what happens we're going to play.

"South Africa is bigger than us everywhere but we're more prepared than them at this time, mentally, physically, technically, tactically, we're prepared," he added.

The two sides will clash on Tuesday evening.
