With Mamelodi Sundowns on their way to completing another defence of their trophy, the Buccaneers' captain has confirmed that the Soweto giants will be challenging for second spot in the CAF Champions League with their remaining matches in the DStv Premiership.
"From the player's point of view, the coach has already said, when the season started we were undoubtedly the better team throughout the first competition, which was the MTN8. After that, we sat down and we had team meetings and we analyzed and we saw why we didn't have the same consistency in the league. We do know the reasons and we've been working hard on those reasons," said Maela, speaking to the media in preparation of Saturday's fixture against SuperSport United.

"We also do know that this is our first season together with the coach and the technical team with the style of play, so we are building. We are building something concrete and solid that will help us in the future. But now, like the coach has said, right now and at this moment, our focus is finishing in the Champions League spot to make sure that we compete in that space in the near future," the defender added.
Pirates take on SuperSport United on Saturday at 17:45.
