The 35-year-old's current contract in the French capital runs out at the end of this season and has not yet penned a new deal.
Messi, a seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, has been strongly linked with a switch to the Middle East following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr, as well as to the MLS.
PSG sporting director Luis Campos, however, has revealed the Ligue 1 champions are in talks with the ex-Barcelona captain in the hopes of extending his stay at the club.
"At the moment, we are in discussions with Messi for his extension. I would like to keep him in this project, I can't hide it," he told Telefoot.
"We are talking at the moment to achieve this goal, and continue to have him with us."
