Du Preez 'Confidence' To Add Threat To Chiefs' Reinforced Attack?

Du Preez 'Confidence' To Add Threat To Chiefs' Reinforced Attack?

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane backs striker Ashley Du Preez to go on a scoring run after he found the back of the net in a 2-0 win over Royal AM.

Chiefs came to the game against Thwihli Thwahla on a back of three successive defeats, without scoring a goal and finally broke their duck and got back to winning ways against the KwaZulu-Natal side.

Zwane says it was about time they regain their scoring touch and believes they were just unfortunate not to score in their previous three matches.

"I'm glad we broke that ice, we scored two goals and in other games as well we could have easily scored three goals, two goals here and there, at least get one," Zwane told the media in a press conference.

"But we were unfortunate, at least this time around God answered our prayers."

Du Preez fired home the goal that killed off the game late in the second stanza against Royal AM after he connected with a cross from new striker signing Christian Saile Basomboli.

The former Stellenbosch forward missed Chiefs' first game since the restart against Golden Arrows due to injury but was part of the team that could not score in a three-game losing streak.

'Mangethe' went on to say that he was not worried about the 25-year old, who has only four goals in 17 appearances for Amakhosi in all competitions this season, not finding the back of the net, as he regards him as a team player.

And he hopes the goal the speedy attacker scored against Royal AM will boost his confidence.

"Look, I was not worried about 'Ash'. You look at Ash, he's a team player, you know sometimes he doesn't score but he creates," Zwane said.

"He does well when it comes to defending. He's a team player as I said, it was just a matter of time that he scores a goal and I'm happy for him.

"I just hope this one will boost his confidence going forward to score more goals," he added.
