Messi 'Wanted' By Second Club In Saudi Arabia

Messi 'Wanted' By Second Club In Saudi Arabia

Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi has been linked with a second club in Saudi Arabia after Cristiano Ronaldo's surprise move to the Middle East earlier this month.

Police Find Barca Intentionally 'Leaked' Messi's Contract

Last week, it was reported that Al Hilal were interested in bringing the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner to the Saudi Pro League following Ronaldo's free-agent transfer to Al Nassr.

Rumours suggested that they are prepared to offer Messi almost double what his long-time rival is said to be earning in the Gulf state, with the Argentine having already committed to being an ambassador for the country's 2030 FIFA World Cup bid.

Marca claimed the 2022 World Cup winner has a proposal of £306 million (R6.2 billion) annually on the table from Al Hilal, while Ronaldo is reportedly set to be paid £173 million (R3.5 billion) per year at Al Nassr.

The Spanish publication now reports that Al Ittihad have also entered the race for Messi's signature, with the clubs in the country's top division hopeful of landing more high-profile names after Ronaldo's arrival.

The Portugal captain's switch to Al Nassr has brought the Saudi Pro League huge attention over the past two weeks, which will be welcomed by the league in the build-up to their bid for the 2030 World Cup.

Messi Linked With €378m Contract In Saudi Arabia

Messi, 35, has a contract in France until the end of the 2022/23 season, but is believed to have indicated that he is willing to extend his stay in Ligue 1 by a further 12 months.
