As Lionel Messi's contract with Paris Saint-Germain slowly winds down, reports claim that the football icon is now close to agreeing terms with a new club.
Morocco Upset World No. 2 Belgium At World Cup
Messi is entering the twilight stage of his career, but despite being 35 years old, he has illustrated that he is still capable of contributing at a world-class level.
His 12 goals and 14 assists for Paris Saint-Germain so far this season are a testament to that, but it seems the Argentine may not see out the rest of his career in Europe.
Instead, it appears the United States of America will be the next stop on the diminutive playmaker's career.
According to The Times, Messi is close to agreeing terms with Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami. The Florida-based outfit recently said goodbye to an Argentine legend in Gonzalo Higuain, but now look set to be signing a more than adequate replacement for the marksman.
Messi, in the past, has disclosed that one of his dreams is to play in the MLS, and it now appears that the club partly-owned by David Beckham is willing to do whatever it takes in order for the Rosario native to put pen to paper on a deal with Inter.
The same report claims that the Argentina captain will be the highest-paid player in the league's history should he sign, while they are also prepared to build the team around him by signing both his former Barcelona teammates Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez.
Beckham's fellow co-owner of the club Jorge Mas has also previously admitted that Inter tried to sign the attacker when Barcelona let him go last year.

With Messi currently at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, reports suggest that the La Masia alumni will only give a conclusive decision regarding his future once the tournament is over, but it seems the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner could be the latest star to make his way across the Atlantic Ocean.
