Reports claim that Manchester United are targeting a sensational move for Kylian Mbappe as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
10 Big-Name Players Missing World Cup
The Red Devils are ready to severe ties with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner as soon as possible following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan earlier this week. The Portugal captain lambasted the club and accused the record Premier League champions of betraying him.
In light of his comments, manager Erik ten Hag no longer wants any part of the 37-year-old after he said the Dutchman had been disrespectful towards him since arriving. Now United are exploring potential strikers to bring to Old Trafford this January and at the top of the list is Kylian Mbappe.
According to The Mirror, the Mancunians are looking at the possibility of signing the superstar Frenchman as they look to find a successor for Ronaldo. Any attempt to sign the 23-year-old would require a spectacular offer, with Mbappe having just signed a two-year extension with Paris Saint-Germain this past off-season.
It was presumed that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner would sign with Real Madrid during the off-season but the Paris native made a spectacular u-turn and instead opted to re-sign with his hometown club. However, with rumblings of discontent in the Mbappe camp as of late regarding Les Parisiens, United will be looking to take advantage and making an audacious bid for the forward.

The same report suggests that Mbappe would cost United £150million (R3 billion), easily more than the club record fee they paid for his compatriot Paul Pogba back in 2016.
With Ronaldo's historic wages in the ballpark of what the reigning Ligue 1 Player of the Year is currently earning at PSG, the matter of personal terms will likely not be an issue if a deal is to be reached.
