Luis Enrique has announced the 26-man Spain squad that he will be taking to the 2022 FIFA World Cup to Qatar later this month, with Sergio Ramos and Thiago among those left out.
Rashford Reveals 'Help' From Benni
Friday afternoon proved a decisive afternoon as Enrique announced which players have booked their tickets to the Gulf for football's biggest tournament.
Many of those involved in 2018 miss out as the former Barcelona boss has paved the way for many young players to etch their names in the illustrious history of La Roja.
Paris Saint-Germain's Sergio Ramos was not selected by Enrique, while starlets such as Gavi and Pedri from Barca have been called up for their maiden World Cup appearances. They are joined by club teammate Sergio Busquets, who helped Spain win the competition for the first time in 2010.
While the Blaugrana are heavily represented in Enrique's squad, their bitter rivals Real Madrid are far from it with Marco Asensio and Dani Carvajal the only players from Los Blancos to make the cut for the team's trip to Arabic nation.
Spain are set to enter their 12th consecutive World Cup with the hopes of achieving glory, having been drawn against Germany, Japan and Costa Rica in the group stage.
