Ten Hag Reacts To Man Utd Teenager's Impressive Cameo

Manchester United came from behind to beat Aston Villa 4-2 in the Carabao Cup on Thursday, with 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho playing a significant role after coming off the bench. Here is what Erik ten Hag had to say about his performance.

Man Utd Set To Make Splash In January 'On One Condition'

The Red Devils fought back after going behind twice at Old Trafford on Thursday night, progressing to the next round of the competition thanks to goals from Antony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay.

Garnacho, 18, was introduced as a second-half substitute and made an instant impact on the game as he assisted Fernandes' goal that put United in front, before he put the ball on a plate for McTominay to score late on in the encounter.

The teenager's direct running appeared a constant threat to Villa's defenders, with Ten Hag saying in his post-match press conference that the winger could play more regularly if he keeps up the attitude he has shown in recent weeks.

"I think it was good that also when he came on that he showed performance that he has an impact in the game," he said, according to the Metro.

"Quite clear, with two assists, some good dribbles, runs behind, but also some things he has to improve. For instance, when we go for the long ball, don't go for the header with Scott McTominay, go for the second ball.

"So, he still has things to learn but it's quite obvious we are really happy with his development, with his performance tonight and he can contribute to this team.

"Can he have a regular role? Depends on how his approach, how his attitude, when he keeps working, keeps this attitude, then it's possible."

Man Utd Line Up Two Ronaldo Replacements

Garnacho scored his first goal for United's senior team last week in the UEFA Europa League, after impressing at youth level in the 2021/22 campaign.
