Barcelona icon Gerard Pique was unable to take to the pitch for his final match in the colours of the Blaugrana after he was sent off for something he said to the referee.
Real Plotting Big-Money Move For African Star?
In a shock announcement last week, veteran defender Pique announced that he would be retiring from professional football before LaLiga goes on a brief hiatus for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
While the 35-year-old central defender was able to bid an emotional farewell to the Culers at the Camp Nou this past weekend, the La Masia alumni's career ended in acrimonious circumstances.
During Barca's dramatic 2-1 victory over Osasuna on Tuesday night, the decorated defender was said to have berated the man who was officiating the game, Gil Manzano, shortly after he blew for half-time.
Pique, who started from the bench, did not mince his words when speaking to Manzano as everybody was heading towards the tunnel, according to the referee's match report.
"Have you seen the corner [for the Osasuna goal]? You are the referee that has f****d us the most by a distance. You are a f****** disgrace, go f*** yourself," Pique allegedly told the referee, as per Goal.
