Ex-Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sent a strong warning to Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman became the highest-paid player in world football earlier this year.
Messi To Make Shock MLS Move? PSG 'Respond'
In May, in a big announcement that shook the footballing world, the 23-year-old performed an incredible U-turn on his future by extending his contract in Paris amid serious interest from Real Madrid.
The new three-year contract he received was reported to make Mbappe the best-paid footballer in the world, with the Frenchman earning more than his more established teammates Neymar, Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi.
It was also said that the deal was signed under conditions that would see the forward have more influence in the club's sporting project, such as the ability to make suggestions to the club as to who they should recruit.
Ibrahimovic, who made 180 appearances for PSG between 2012 and 2016, believes Mbappe has landed himself in dangerous territory.
"Mbappe, as a person, I do not know him very well. As a player, he is fantastic," the Swede told Canal Sport.
"But when you lose discipline, you lose your identity.
"There is a reason why [Zinedine] Zidane is Zidane. Mbappe wants to imitate him? That he starts to want to progress. Not to be satisfied. He made the right choice for Paris, not for himself.
"Mbappe has put himself in a situation where he is more important than the club.
"But you should never be bigger than a club because you are not."
The Swede also caused a stir online with recent comments about the French giants' front three, in which he seemed to jokingly claim that Ligue 1 is lacking in quality since his departure six years ago.
Ibrahimovic scored an impressive 156 goals in his four-spell at PSG, before completing a free-agent switch to Manchester United.
