Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League tie against the Bundesliga club.
Guardiola: Haaland Will Break Premier League Goal Record
Having impressed in his first two seasons at BVB, the ex-Birmingham City starlet has added goals to his weaponry of late, already scoring more times in this campaign than he did in the previous one.
Bellingham has netted on eight occasions from 17 appearances across all competitions so far, with four of those strikes coming in as many Champions League games, a streak he will hoping to continue on Tuesday night.
Speaking ahead of the Group G clash, Guardiola was full of praise for the England international, who has previously been linked with a mega-move to the Premier League champions.
"It's not just quality, he has a special mentality," he said, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
"He's already one of the captains, at 19 is quite impressive.
"It's not just about the goals, the whole package is top. He's already playing for England at 19. We know the quality he has."
Prior to his switch to Dortmund in 2020, Bellingham set multiple records in the English Championship while on Birmingham's books, becoming the youngest player and goalscorer in the club's history.
Pep Sends World Cup Warning To Man City Stars
As a result of his achievements at the Blues as a teenager, his No. 22 jersey was retired upon his transfer to Germany in 2020, with the midfielder having since amassed 107 appearances for BVB.
