Manchester United have reportedly decided who they will look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with should the five-time Ballon d'Or winner leave in the January transfer window.
Ronaldo 'Knows' Who Will Win 2022 Ballon D'Or
Despite recently getting more game time at United, the Portuguese forward's future remains unclear after he attempted to find a move away from the club ahead of the start of the season.
Ronaldo has since found himself on the bench more often than not in this campaign, having been named in manager Erik ten Hag's starting XI just twice in the Premier League until now.
This raises questions ahead of the upcoming January window, and whether or not the ex-Real Madrid and Juventus talisman will successfully manage to secure an exit with less than a year on his contract.
According to Mundo Deportivo, should this happen, the Red Devils will attempt to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who has contributed to an impressive nine goals in his first 10 matches of the 2022/23 campaign.
The 26-year-old's form was rewarded with a maiden call-up to the England national team last month, although is yet to make his international debut.
Toney played a pivotal role in helping the Bees win promotion to the Premier League in 2021, scoring 31 times in the English Championship before finding the back of the net on 12 occasions last season.
