Rodney Ramagalela rallies Leopards' survival fight

Rodney Ramagalela rallies Leopards' survival fight

They currently find themselves at the foot of the DStv Premiership table, but Black Leopards are far from being down and out just yet, according to their captain Rodney Ramagalela.

Lidoda Duvha pulled off what could potentially be labelled as a season-saving win, when they beat Kaizer Chiefs this week, keeping their survival hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Amakhosi.

Leopards now find themselves three points adrift of 15th placed Chippa United and need to get wins against Cape Town City and Bloemfontein Celtic in their last two matches if they are to survive their drop this season, something that they will fight to do until the final whistle according to their skipper.

"We are very much under pressure in terms of the difference between number 15 and us at the bottom and each and every game for us is a cup final. We need to fight for our lives, we need to fight for our families. The only thing we need to do is make sure that we stay positive and that we get results in every game we are going to play until the end of the season," Ramagalela told Soccer Laduma in edition 1225.

The captain revealed that it would not only be a blow to the players and staff if the club was relegated this season, but for the entire football-loving Limpopo province.

"It would be a big loss, especially to our supporters. These people in our province love football. It's going to be a very big loss and I don't know how to explain this… to have two teams in the relegation zone… tjoo, it's very difficult, I must say. I don't know how to explain this, but it is a very difficult situation we are facing, not only us as players of Tshakhuma and Black Leopards, but for the whole province. It's very difficult, especially when you can't go to the stadium and see what is happening because you don't understand what is happening when the game is not on TV," he added.

Ramagalela also discusses:

  • Why the goals have dried up
  • How losing senior players affected the club
  • Adapting to a new position at 32
